Community Outreach

LTA Week of Giving Information & Schedule

The week of October 3-8 will be a chance for LTA members to show how much they care.  LTA chair Mark Segel has designated that week in October as the “Week of Giving”.  During that week, all LTA members are encouraged to actively participate in a charity or non-profit of their choice and then report what they did and the amount of time spent for the organization. The total number of hours will be shared with the media. To report your volunteer service, please email Jim Porter (LT’99), 2011 Community Outreach Chair at jim.porter@arlaw.com. The Community Outreach Committee has also arranged the following set of activities:

•         Monday, October 3 – 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (different shifts available) at MacDonald Training Center, 5420 W. Cypress Street, Tampa 33607.  Email Rose Hari (Leadership Napa Valley) at rhari724@aol.com to participate.

•         Tuesday, October 4 – 1-3 p.m. at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, One Crisis Center Plaza, Tampa 33613.  Email Donamae Clinebell (LT’04) at donamae@stalwartcapital.com to participate. 

•         Wednesday, October 5 – 4:30-8 p.m. Dinner for 25 residents at Ronald McDonald House, 28 Columbia Drive, Tampa, 33606.  Email Matt Dumar (LT’07) at matt.dumar@gt.com to participate. 

•         Thursday, October 6 – 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Diploma-see Program (You will also need to participate in a training session Sept 23-30 to participate) – Additional details and registration is available at http://www.tampachamber.com/page.asp?pageid=243.  

The Week of Giving will be an opportunity to demonstrate LTA’s strong commitment to community service. We hope you will participate in one of these activities or with a non-profit of your choice! 

Community Outreach Committee Information

The Outreach Committee gets LTA out into the community, demonstrating leadership in action. This is done primarily through volunteer programs at regional nonprofit agencies and other community programs and supply drives.

In 2009, the Outreach Committee was involved in a number of civic volunteer events — the most significant was the KABOOM playground installation at A Kid’s Place.

In 2010, LTA members also took part in Paint Your Heart Out, Fisher House Decorate & Dinner event and the United Way’s Day Of Caring.

Demonstrate your leadership by participating in our community outreach programs and showing that Leadership Tampa Alumni is making a difference in Tampa Bay.
